Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (HAWKS) EASTERN CAPE - Yamnkela Nkote (21) and Beauty Shonnei Simoto (30) appeared briefly in the Cala Magistrate court on Monday for alleged child trafficking and kidnapping. Nkote allegedly gave birth on 10 October 2020 and handed over the baby to Simoto whom she met in February this year without the father’s consent. When the father enquired about his child’s whereabouts, Nkote claimed that the infant had passed on but was unable to point out the grave. She later admitted that she gave the baby to a lady in Johannesburg for a fee. Subsequently, the infant was traced and found in Kempton Park by the Eastern Cape Serious Organised Crime Investigation team. The child was later reunited with the father. Both suspects were remanded in custody and will appear again on 02 November 2020.
